Clinical Experience of Treatment of Nonunions of Extremity Ilizarov Method

Abstract
|
|
|
Sixteen patients(seventeen nonunions) were treated with the Ilizarov external fixation. There are 12 male (12 case) and 4 female (5 case0 with an average of 35 years. The main cause of nonunious were infection.
The treatment of 17 nonunions were monofocal synthesis in 8 cases and bifocal synthesis in 9 cases. Mean union time was 4.7 months in monofocal osteosynthesis without bone graft; 6 months in monfocal osteosynthesis with bone graft, 9 months in
bifocal
osteosynthesis without bone graft, 10.1 months in bifocal osteosynthesis with bone graft.
There were 15 complication of which joint contracture in 5 cases, residual bone shortening (> 1cm) in 3 cases, axial deviation in 2 cases, delayed consolidation in 2 cases and amputation 1 case.
